MotorFest 2022, an event organized by the Alma Mater team to celebrate the start of the new season, was held on December 5th.
The evening was presided over by Magnifico Rector Giovanni Molari. This was followed by Stefano Bonaccini, the President of the Emilia-Romagna region, Matteo Lepore, the Mayor of the city of Bologna, and Dr. Roberta Li Calzi, the Municipal Councillor for Budget and Sport of Bologna. Also speaking at the event was the team’s Faculty Advisor, Professor Nicolò Cavina, alongside the project’s Ambassador, Pier Luigi Santi, who talked about the reality of UniBo Motorsport and the significance of the links with the companies that support it. Immediately afterwards, Team Leaders Rebecca Rimondi, Gabriele Cernicchi and Leonardo Mengozzi (UniBoAT) took the floor. Ing. Simone di Piazza and Ing. Maurizio Reggiani, representatives of our main partners Ducati Motor Holding and Squadra Corse Lamborghini, were also present to underscore the close ties between the Alma Mater team and leading companies in the areas of the motorsport sector. In addition, there were spokesmen representing other companies that support the project, such as the CEO and Founder of Engines Engineering, Ing Alberto Stradari and Ing Matteo Canella, CTO E/E division of EDAG ITALIA. The evening concluded with a visit to the prototype exhibition with time for refreshments. The speeches that took place during the evening emphasized the core values of the Bologna University Team: passion, spirit of sacrifice and the ability to always look to the future with a positive outlook without ever being satisfied. Values that are shared more and more within the university faculties among the students who each year join the project, which this year boasts record numbers of more than 250 students being part of the team for the 2022/2023 season!
The Bologna-based team after the triumphant season just ended, is preparing to start the next one with even more motivation and ambition. The first place obtained in the second edition of Moto Engineering Italy in Imola for the electric motorcycle; as well as the top step on the podium in Barcelona in Formula Student Spain and the third position in Formula Student Czech Republic are all excellent results, demonstrating the great season of the Bolognese team. However, they also represent a new starting point from which to consolidate the foundations for the future season, so that the team can achieve as many outstanding results as possible. Even more satisfaction was added thanks to the excellent work done by the team of the electric car that achieved first place in the Efficiency tests at Varano. Let us not forget the successes achieved in virtual competitions with the Vi-Grade Virtual Formula, achieving a solid first in the Combustion category and second with the EV.
The MotorFest event was an opportunity to officially carry out the classic handover between the old and new managers who will lead the team in the new season. The ceremony came to life on the event stage through the words of outgoing Team Leader Rebecca Rimondi, the first woman at the helm of the Team, and new Team Leader Gabriele Cernicchi.
