Montmeló, August 7, 2024 – UniBo Motorsport participated in the second race of the 2024 Formula Student season in Spain, held from August 1 to 7 at the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit, securing an overall first place with Athena, car number 88.
The prototype successfully passed all technical inspections: mechanical, battery pack, and driver safety tests within the stipulated times. The mechanical inspections were passed on the second day, the battery pack inspections on the third, and finally, on the fourth day, the electrical inspections were completed along with the Tilt, Rain, and Brake tests, all with positive results.
On August 3, the team also participated in the static events: Cost Event, Engineering Design Event, and Business Plan Presentation. These allowed the judges to see the work behind the design and creation of the prototype. In the Cost Event, the Bologna team ranked seventh, in the Design Event sixth, and in the Business Plan Presentation ninth. Unfortunately, on the fourth day, some issues arose with the battery pack and brakes, which were promptly resolved, allowing Athena to proceed with the subsequent tests.
During the Acceleration and Skidpad tests on the fifth day, UniBo Motorsport ranked seventh and sixth, respectively. In the Autocross event, Athena truly stood out, placing second among the 25 electric teams.
Finally, on August 7, Athena completed the 20 laps of the Endurance test, securing the coveted first place. This victory allowed the team to climb the rankings and emerge as the overall winner of the entire competition.
The entire UniBo Motorsport team is extremely proud of these results, which represent the best comeback after the 2023 season, during which the vehicle was unable to participate in any competitions.
The team now turns its focus to the next challenge: Formula ATA, which will take place at the Varano de’ Melegari circuit from September 4 to 8.
